Diary Post #43 *My Growd-Up Boy*

Joel, only a few minutes old.....

Dear Diary.....

This evening I am feeling extremely soppy & quite emotional at the thought of my son turning 3 year old in 15 days time. (Friday 13th September) It only seems like yesterday, that after a 36 hour labor which ended in an emergency c-section, I was finally able to meet my boy. After 40 weeks & 3 days of waiting, the nurse handed me this beautiful newborn bundle, & he was to be all mine, forever & ever. :)

Joel was born on Monday 13th September 2010, at 16.47pm, weighing a healthy 8lb 13oz. Both mummy & daddy cried alot.

After spending 2 years trying to conceive & then suffering a miscarriage in November 2009, I found out I was expecting Joel on 7th January 2010 & I couldn't have been more happier, but because we had been trying so long, it didn't feel real & for the first few weeks I couldn't stop buying pregnancy test & using them. ;)

If you have been following my blog then you will know that my son was born with a Lung Malformation on his right lung called CCAM ) Congenital Cystic Adenomatoid Malformation) but tonight I don't want to talk about the negatives, I just wanted to talk about all the positives in between. Asides from all the scans we had to have to keep a check up on Joel's condition, I had what I thought was a quite easy pregnancy. I didn't suffer with morning sickness & I didn't really have many complaints (I don't think?)

After Joel was born we spent 5 days in hospital (due to his condition & my section) but once we got home, the fun really began. I had to get to grips with making bottles, doing night feeds & changing nappies! IT WAS GREAT :) & it still is, because every day since I have enjoyed every second. I just can't seem to get my head around the idea that my newborn bundle is now a walking talking TODDLER, who in January will be starting nursery! *cries hysterically* He such a happy, laid back little guy & I love him to absolute pieces.

Joel today, 2 years & 11 months old. :)

I really didn't think this time 3 years ago that we'd even see Joel's 3rd birthday with everything that was going off, because I didn't know what our future held. He has truly shown me just what a beautiful, brave, strong little warrior he really is & I couldn't be anymore proud of my pumpkin. :)

Thank you for reading.
Until next time, keep smiling.
