Diary Post # 13. Night Terrors.
Dear Diary..
So for the last week now my 2 year old son has been suffering from Night Terrors & when you have to just sit there & watch him go through it & there isn't really much you can do about it, its not a very nice thing to experience.
My question to anybody reading this is; Have your little ones/any family members suffered night terrors? & if they have what did you do?
Truth be told it is totally ripping me apart having to watch him go through this & even tho experts say you child won't remember it, I damn well do! I dread bedtime every night,, I am utterly exhausted & totally worn out - not my son's fault I know. & what makes it wore is I can not fathom why they have started? I jave spoken to my Health Visitor & even she was slightly stumped, there has been no change in routines whatsoever so we don't understand why they could be happening.
I have somebody coming to assess Joel in 4 weeks time, she will stay at home with us all day to watch his movements & see if she can crack why he may be having night terrors! - hopefully she can work it out, because we can't! until then we just have to carry on with what we are doing, my health visitor has said I am doing everything right & that there is not much more that can be done! :(
I have completely racked my brain for an answer as to why they may have started. is it because he gave up his dummies? is it because the previous week before they started I was having to pin him down to put eye drops in his eyes for conjunctivitis? I really don't know! all I know is that they need to stop, SOON! :(
I will update again on this subject once the women has been to do her assessment, I don't even know her name, I think she was called Janice? (I think)

I don't think you can find a reason. They just happen, and then after a while they stop. It is horrible to watch, but it really doesn't seem to affect them - hope you get some support from the health visitor though.
